Job Descriptions
Uppsala University Hospital employs 8,600 staff members, is one of the top university hospitals, and serves two million patients in central Sweden.
Uppsala University Hospital is located in Uppsala, the fourth largest city in Sweden, known as a university city as it is home to the country’s oldest university founded in 1477. Uppsala is a city with historic landmarks, unparalleled natural beauty, and fosters entrepreneurship and culture to cultivate fertile ground for innovative ideas.
At Uppsala University Hospital, you will be close to specialized knowledge, research, education, and dedicated colleagues. We continuously work to improve services and develop our clinics, striving to be a workplace that promotes health with exemplary leadership and flexible working methods.
We operate in two departments, one mainly managing emergency patient inflow, pre- and post-operatively treating various types of fractures, and have scientific personnel with specialized knowledge in selected pelvic fractures and challenging hand surgeries, meaning we accept patients from large areas of the country.
In our other department, we provide part of our planned care. Here, we assist patients with osteoarthritis who require hip, knee, or shoulder joint replacements. The emergency inflow mainly consists of patients with traumatic spine and neck fractures, large disc herniations requiring urgent surgery, or patients with infections requiring surgery in addition to antibiotic treatment. We have highly specialized doctors in the prosthetic and spinal surgery, meaning we also provide healthcare at the regional and national levels.
Treatment times vary and can range from one day to several weeks, and we always work in teams with professions such as nurses, nurse assistants, pharmacists, counselors, assistant physicians, specialist physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and medical secretaries.
For selected nurses, the following will be provided free of charge:
